Faculty Development Programme by International Faculty
A two day Faculty Development Programme was organised for the faculty and research scholars of the Department of CS/IT, Symbiosis Institute of Technology on July 10-11, 2020 on Retail customer profiling using unsupervised learning. The Resource Speaker was Dr Pawan Lingras, Professor and Director of M.Sc. in Computing and Data Analytics, Department of Mathematics and Computing Science, Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Canada. The FDP began with the introduction of the expert by Dr Meena Laad, Head, International Initiatives, SIT. Dr Pawan focussed on introducing R programming, starting with creating arrays in R alongwith command in R programming, creation of Sample dataset.
He introduced Clustering and how to apply K means algorithm on sample datasets. The FDP also included topics like retail data and customer profiling along with MySQL queries on the sample datasets, clustering retail data using R programming. Prof. Seema Patil ensured seamless conduct of FDP through virtual platform on both the days. The interactive FDP was well appreciated by all the participants. It was concluded by vote of thanks by the Head, Dept. of Comp. Science Engineering Dr Shraddha Phansalkar and a very encouraging feedback by the participants.
