Overview
Department of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) offers, program in M.Tech in Automotive Technology with an intake of 30 students. ARAI is a well-known Automotive Research, Development, Testing & Certification Institute in the country. The Skill development initiative of ARAI is ARAI Academy, located in the middle of Industrial hub at Chakan, Pune. This programme has a unique feature which incorporates all the latest and emerging technology in automotive industry including electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel vehicles, autonomous technology, hybrid technology, pilot less car, drone technology, smart electronic & mechatronic, AI & ML, IoT and embedded application in automotive. The students are exposed to the latest technologies, which help them to meet the requirements of the Automotive Industry.

Eligibility for Automotive Technology
- Both Gate and Non-Gate qualified candidates are eligible M.Tech. admissions.
- For Gate qualified candidates, admission will be given based on the valid Gate score.
- For non-Gate candidates- The entrance examination and personal interview will be conducted at SIT, and based on the score of the entrance exam, admission will be offered.
- B.Tech./ B.E. in Mechanical Engineering/Electronics and Communication/ Computer Science/Information Technology and other related disciplines of Engineering with minimum of four years duration from any recognized University/Institution with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% Marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes)
- Industry professional supported by respective company and having minimum two years of experience with minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% Marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes) in BE/BTech are also eligible.
