The department endeavours to impart quality education to students in the areas of computer science and information technology with exposure to industrial problems and application development through specialization programmes, student workshops, industry internships, Value-added courses and Projects.
The department has very competent faculty certified and trained to teach advanced areas in computer science like cloud computing, software quality, cyber security, artificial intelligence and machine learning, blockchain technology, Internet of Things and so on.
Education here prepares students for an exciting career in industry, Governmental jobs, and universities. They also are given platform to form startup companies. The department has well equipped laboratories and our faculty is dedicated to excellence in teaching. It has a fine blend of well experienced faculty and young & dynamic faculty. The Students get an opportunity to work on projects to groom them for professional life. There is plenty of opportunity to interact with faculty and to receive individual attention. Students are also engaged in Internship of six months because of which they become industry ready.
The faculty is actively engaged in research and publications and has recognised projects to their credit in collaborations with industry, international universities and research labs of high repute. The students are actively engaged in application based projects as well as research projects with industry, R&D labs, research centres as well as international universities.

We are proud to unveil the logo of the ACM Student Chapter@ Dept. of CSE and AIML, SIT. ACM Student Chapter was inaugurated by Dr. Sonali Patil, Professor and Head from PCCOE.
ACM the Association for Computing Machinery is the world's largest educational and scientific computing society. The ACM serves as an essential resource for computing professionals, providing access to the latest research, opportunities for networking and career development Opening the chapter gives new opportunities for all the SIT students to showcase their skills and utilise their talent and acquisition. Prasanna Kulkarni, from Symbiosis Institute of Technology - Symbiosis Society of Cyber Security (SOCS) - a student wIng of Blockchain club, conducted the first workshop on Nmap for the students at SIT illustrating the environmental setup for Ethical Hackers and Penetration Testers, including Kali Linux and BackBox. Furthermore, the workshop focused on basic terminologies and methodology for web application hacking and server hacking, explaining password-cracking methods like brute force attacks, hybrid attacks, dictionary attacks, and many more to crack web server passwords.
A brief demonstration of tools like nslookup and Nmap, which are used by hackers to gain access to uncontrolled ports on a system, and we can proceed with the same, hping3, etc. In addition, the students got the opportunity to see Live Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing on Demo websites.
Congratulations to the winning team of VoIS_for_Tech Innovation Marathon Harsh Chandekar and Lisanne Dlima, Final Year CSE students for bringing laurels to the institute.
The Department had arranged an enriching industrial visit to Tata Central Archives, Tata Management Training Centre Campus, Pune and Atreya Innovations Pvt. Ltd, Hinjewadi, Pune.
The Department had an opportunity to interact with Dr Rajiv Raje, Associate Dean for Planning, Finance and Faculty Affairs and Professor, School of Computer and Information Science, IUPUI University, Indianapolis, USA under the International Initiatives at SIT.

Joint Aston-SIT AI/ML Hackathon
Joint Aston-SIT AL/ML Hackathon was successfully completed from 16th – 18th May 2022 at Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Lavale, Pune. This Hackathon is part of the Industry-inspired Transnational Education in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning project. This Hackathon is part of the Industry-inspired Transnational Education in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning project. Dr. Amit Chattopadhyay from Aston was present for this event at SIT. Dr. Swati Ahirrao from the CSE department visited Aston during the duration of the Hackathon event.
Research Scholar Lecture Series
The department of CSE, IT, and AIML arranged sessions of research scholar lecture series.
Ms. Shraddha Deshmukh conducted a session flourish tool - which is a data visualization and storytelling tool. Data visualization is a niche area related to any research activity. So this session is found to be useful for undergraduate as well as PhD scholars also.
Mr. Mayur Gaikawd conducted a session on UI for Machine Learning activities. In his session, he showed sample projects using StreamLit which is found to be an effective tool for UI related to ML. Audience for this session is from B.Tech and PhD scholars also.
Techela 2022
Department of Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology hosted a fun-filled technical festival, which the student staff and faculty thoroughly enjoyed. It was a jam-packed event with both technical and fun activities.
An annual TechFest(The sixth edition of TECHELA 6.0), organized by the CS/IT department was held on the 23rd and 24th of April 2021. The inauguration ceremony was conducted on 23rd April 2021. For this inauguration function, DyDirector, Academics Dr. Warke Madam, HOD’s of various departments, faculties and students of all department were present.
This year, we have organised 7 pre-techfest events, and 13 TechFest events in online mode. Pre-TechFest events were organised from 16th April 2021 to 22nd April 2021. For this Pre-TechFest 2021, we had Technical and Gaming events. In Technical events, students from many colleges participated for events like Bug Detection, Coding-Decoding, Hand and Brain Coding. Also for Gaming events, student shown their interest for events like The Knights Open Chess Challenge, Scribble, Bollywood/Hollywood quiz, and Open Mic. In TechFest, we had series of events organised from during 23rd and 24th April 202. These events were of Gaming, Technical, and Workshops types. In technical events, we had events like Treasure hunt, Tech Quiz, Bollywood fun/Chain reaction (Faculty event), Hackathon, Tech Project Poster Making, and in Gaming events, we have events like Among Us, CS GO, Valorant, COD, and Clash Royale. Digital Marketing, Graphic Designing, and Game Development were the workshop led by industry professionals.
For this year, we have received 1200+ registrations over 220+ colleges. Techela's Instagram handle (@techela.csit) had a total of 40,196 account look-ups, and 1,934 content interactions, and have done live streming for these videos over YouTube channel. Ms. Grishma Jena an alumni of Computer Science Engineering batch gave a lecture on "Data Scientist as a career" on 6th of January, 2020. Ms Grishma is a Data Scientist at IBM, San Francisco . She discussed the technical details of the python projects .
